Ministry Of Water Resources Career Opportunity As Chairman Wapda

WAPDA, a statutory organization established under WAPDA Act, 1958, is the largest hydroelectric installed in providing electric power supply to the national grid system of national importance. Government of Pakistan is looking for a high caliber, experienced, motivated & dynamic individual with leadership qualities for the position of Chairman WAPDA on contract basis.

CONTRACT DURATION

Five Years

ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATIONS

The Chairman shall be a Pakistani citizen and shall:-

(a) possess a graduate degree in engineering from a university or institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission; or

(b) a master’s degree in business administration or management, or public administration or finance or an equivalent degree to these from a university or institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission; or

(c) be a member of a recognized body of professional accountants; or

(d) be a civil servant in BPS-21 or above, or an officer of an equivalent pay scale in the armed forces of Pakistan.

EXPERIENCE

The candidate must possess at the time of his appointment professional experience of not less than twenty-five years with at least eight years experience at a senior or top managerial or administrative level post.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / JOB DESCRIPTION

The Chairman shall perform the following functions, namely:-

i. Assisting the Federal Government in planning, execution, operation and maintenance of water and hydel power resources of Pakistan under the mandate given in the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority Act, 1958 (West Pakistan Act No. XXXVII of 1958);

ii. Act and perform as head of the Authority for carrying its administrative, financial and technical affairs, subject to the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority Act, 1958 (West Pakistan Act No. XXXVII of 1958);

iii. Management of water, power & finance wings of the Authority alongwith other supporting functions of the Authority;

iv. Dealing with the national, international agencies, departments, regulatory authorities, provincial governments and other ministries and divisions for effective follow up of water resources and power projects for timely completion and commercialization and schedule and guidelines;

v. Any other assignment, assigned by the Ministry of Water Resources / or the Federal Government.

REMUNERATION

i. The remuneration of an officer of the Authority is appointed as Chairman in that from pay in BPS-22 including such allowances as may be admissible from time to time in MP-I Scale; Provided that where a civil servant who has been appointed as Chairman has not been promoted to BPS-22, he shall draw the pay of his substantive pay scale alongwith such allowances as may be admissible from time to time in MP-I Scale.

ii. If an officer of the armed forces is appointed as Chairman, he shall draw the pay and allowances of the pay scale to which such appointee belongs alongwith such allowances as may be admissible in respect of the Authority. However, such appointee shall not be admissible from time to time in MP-I Scale.
