Advertisement for the Positions of Sign Language Interpreters
In pursuit of an inclusive and accessible legislative environment, the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab invites applications from qualified professionals for (contractual/daily wages) position of Sign Language Interpreter to provide real-time interpretation of House proceedings for persons with hearing impairments.
Position Title: Sign Language Interpreter
Location: Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, Lahore
Remuneration: Rs.15,000 per day (subject to deduction of applicable taxes)
Key Responsibilities/Job Description:
a) Provide accurate, real-time interpretation of the proceedings of the House in Pakistan Sign Language (PSL).
b) Coordinate with the media and IT teams for live broadcasts.
c) Maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and professional conduct during interpretation.
d) Assist in other accessibility-related initiatives, if required.
Eligibility Criteria:
a. Bachelor’s degree (16 years education) from a recognized institution (preferably in Special Education, Linguistics, or a related field).
b. Certification in Pakistan Sign Language (PSL) interpretation from a recognized institute.
c. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in sign language interpretation.
d. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
e. Familiarity with parliamentary or formal institutional settings will be an advantage.
